Is Qigong right for me?
* Adults (18+) of any gender, ethnicity, sexual orientation, disability, age, culture, class, religion, or opinion are welcome.
* Qigong is great for students who are new to movement classes and those who are seasoned at group fitness.
* It is excellent for people of all abilities and can be done both sitting and standing.
* No two people are alike, so we will work to find the easiest and safest ways for you to move and modifications will be presented in each class.
* All members of the community are welcome!
What do I wear/bring?
* Please wear comfortable clothing that you
can move in. Qigong may be done in shoes,
socks, or bare feet.
* Yoga mats are encouraged. Chairs will be provided.
What is Qigong?
* Qigong, pronounced “chee gong,” was developed in China thousands of years ago. It is a type of mindful movement that uses slow, fluid movements and is similar to Tai Chi.
* The simplicity and repetition of the
movements can make it easier to learn
than similar forms of exercise.
* It uses gentle exercises that can improve
the body’s energy flow to find
greater health and wellness.
What are the Benefits of Qigong?
* Many people have found that doing Qgong has both physical andp sychological benefits.
* Qigong can help us improve our balance and stability in moments of movement and stillness.
* It can improve our mind-body connection by bringing us fully into the present moment.
What can I expect in class?
* Classes will include warm-up, practice,
and cool-down segments.
* About 45 minutes of the class will be
focused on movement and 15 minutes will
be for discussion and focusing on our breath.
* Qigong is a form of moving meditation,
so it is excellent if you find meditating
in stillness challenging.
