What Are Diva Fusion Flow Workshops?
In, these fun and flirty workshops, we will delve into dance theory while tapping into our inner goddess! By fusing belly dance and burlesque movements with fitness concepts, we will explore topics such as theme, transitions, and timing. No dance experience is needed!
We will learn how to move in the different planes of the body to understand the many ways the human body can move and how that can be applied to our dance training and performances. We will also work at modifying movements to make them best for our bodies.

Workshop #1: Shimmy, Bump, and Flow
Discover how the body moves by learning belly dance and burlesque basics. We will explore how to create dynamic performances through theme selection, performance style, and stage presence. We will learn the body mechanics of movements such as shimmies and arm waves to improve our training and performing.
Workshop #2: Get Down and Groove
Explore how music plays into your practices and performances. We will focus on lower body moves to explore how music selection, timing, and movement variations form a framework for both training and performing. We will learn ways our hips can move, such as up/down, left/right, pelvic tilt, hip bump, and hip circles to gain strength and coordination in your lower body.
Workshop #3: Circle, Lift, and Drop
Explore how directions, positions, and transitions can help us create unique performances. We will focus on upper body movements to explore how we can adapt to different stages, create interesting angles, and make smooth transitions. We will learn ways our arms, shoulders, and chest can move, such as chest slides, arm waves/snake arms, chest lift/drop, chest circles, shoulders forward/back and up/down.
What Should I wear/bring?
Please wear clothes that are easy to move in. Some ideas would be a tank top, sports bra, T-shirt, leggings, yoga pants, shorts. We will be using hip scarves in class, so if you have a wrap, scarf, or dance skirt feel free to bring it. Please make sure they are silent! I will also have ones to loan in class. Feel free to pull out your flirty stuff, too, as we are divas!
These workshops are designed to be done barefoot or in flat dance shoes like ballet flats. Workshops include a light to moderate aerobic workout. Please bring a water bottle, there is also water provided at the studio.
What should I expect in class?
The class is in a follow-along style but we will not be following a strict choreography. There will be time in class to freestyle and apply the topics and movements that we learned that day and get into your own flow! This way you can see how it feels with your body. We will also have time for discussion.
Workshops will be held at Rise Pole Fitness at their Sacramento location at 1650A Tribute Road, Sacramento, California 95815.
